Arsenal defender Nuno Tavares has admitted that he’s unsure of which foot is his strongest, but he thinks it is his left.

The youngster joined the Gunners in an €8m deal from Benfica last summer and was a regular for Arsenal under Mikel Arteta last season.

The arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City, though, pushed him down the pecking order and so he’s moved on loan to Marseille for the season.

That deal is proving to be a successful one so far, with the 22-year-old starting all five of Marseille’s Ligue 1 games so far and playing 90 minutes in three of those.

He’s also found his goalscoring touch, with strikes against Reims and Brest Stadium in the first two games and then another in the 3-0 win over Nice.

Interestingly, though, two of his three goals so far this season have come with his right foot, even though the defender is a left-footer by nature. Or, at least, that’s what he thinks.

“I think I’m left-footed,” La Provence report him saying.

“It’s easier with my position as a left-back. But I prefer to shoot with my right foot, the shots come in better. But I’m sure I’m left-footed.”
