Feyenoord midfielder Orkun Kokcu has revealed he is in constant contact with Tyrell Malacia, praising him for his start to life at Manchester United.

Malacia moved to Manchester United in the summer in one of the more understated deals of a big transfer window for Erik ten Hag.

His €15m fee paled in comparison to those paid for the likes of Lisandro Martinez and Antony, with the latter arriving with big fees and big expectations as a result.

Malacia’s fee allowed him to arrive without those burdens and it has so far worked in his favour, with little expectation meaning he has been able to establish himself out of the limelight.

That’s something he has done, quickly replacing Luke Shaw as the first choice left-back at the club with a series of impressive performances.

He’s quickly earned himself favour among the Manchester United faithful, while his performances in recent games have also earned him plenty of plaudits from journalists and pundits alike.

And it seems they are not the only ones keen to praise him, with his former teammate also a big fan.

“I have daily contact with Malacia. I just got in touch and tonight I planned a FaceTime call with him, so I’m going to talk to him a little more.

“I often tell him that I am proud of him. Last year I was with him every day. We also trained outside the club. I really saw him every day and we try to keep that up with video calls.

“Does he miss me? I hope so. I’ll ask him tonight.
