With three goals in five games, Nikola Vlasic is the talk of the town in Italy, especially since Torino got him from West Ham United on loan with an option to buy set at around €15m.

Considering his start, the Serie A side are already rubbing their hand at the deal they made, and the press can’t get enough of the Croatian.

We’ve covered as much of the praise to date, and it continues on Thursday, as Sky Italia’s Nicola Roggero spoke to Toronews about the West Ham loanee.

He started off by saying: “In the Premier League, he was less successful than expected, both at Everton and West Ham. He’s a quality player and strangely in England, he was unable to deliver what he thought he was. I say strangely because he’s quick and efficient, so he is well suited to English football. In Russia, on the other hand, he did very well.”

When asked if Serie A could be the launch pad for Vlasic’s career, since the Croatia international is still only 24, Roggero made it clear his wish is for the Italians to end up triggering the option to buy him from West Ham permanently, adding that he hopes the player ‘stays at Torino for a long time’.

Whether that happens will be entirely up to the Serie A side, who will be hoping their new favourite’s form continues the way it started, giving them little option but to acquire him at what could end up being a bargain price.

As for West Ham, they appear to have already resigned themselves to the fact they will make a loss on the player, having bought him for £27m just a year ago.
