Aston Villa fullback Alex Moreno had this week an interview with the Spanish media.

The 29-year-old, who was signed by the Premier League side in January, spoke to Radio Marca about his adaptation to English football and especially to a new country.

Moreno had nice things to say about Birmingham, claiming he’s been having good impressions of the city so far.

“The little that I have been able to know is very good, football is lived differently. It’s another type of life, another place to meet, to experience football different from Seville. I’m liking it a lot. I want to keep learning more about Birmingham,” Moreno told Radio Marca (via Estadio Deportivo).

The Aston Villa fullback was also asked if he’s been having trouble speaking English, but pointed out the squad has plenty of players who speak Spanish and can help him.

“I want to learn it as soon as possible, improve it, I have three classes a week and I’m picking it up quickly. I’m in a non-central area, a bit more on the outskirts. You live more at home because of the weather, but I have made very good friends with Emi Martínez, Buendía, Diego Carlos, Coutinho, Douglas… We have made a good group and I am very happy, we are all very close”.

Quizzed about Aston Villa boss Unai Emery, Moreno only praised the manager, claiming he’s very good at giving players the right instructions.

“He’s won what he’s won for a reason. I was very surprised by how he analyses the matches, what he wants from each player, from the team… He gives you a lot of information but when you arrive at a new site that information helps you a lot, that’s very important.”

Moreno was also asked about Emiliano Martinez, who became a star since winning the World Cup with Argentina last year, and could only praise the goalkeeper.

“He is a very good person, we are all a bit in the same group in the locker room. Emi, since I arrived he has always given me advice, he knows that it is always difficult when a new arrival arrives. Couples get together too between them to make adaptation easier, I’m very happy on that side because it also helps”.

Moreno was signed by Villa on a €13.5m deal from Real Betis in January, and while he hasn’t always started, he has taken part in all of the team’s games since his arrival, and has seven appearances to date.
