Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi may not have been called up by Argentina to play in their upcoming friendlies, but hasn’t lost hope of featuring for the national team in the future.

The player this week had a conversation with his home country’s media, talking to DSports Radio about his chances of representing the world champions.

Senesi, who played one match for Argentina back in 2022, claims he’ll continue trying to do his best for Bournemouth and get the call up as a consequence.

“Everything I do I think about the future. I always work to be at the national team. You always hope to represent your country. I know that if I do my job well, the opportunity will come. I never imagined listening to a hymn that wasn’t from my country, I feel proud to represent Argentina.”

It’s outlet Olé who feature his quotes. They claim that ‘despite coming to a team that is struggling not to be relegated, his great performances allowed Bournemouth to score points to be able to hope and stay in the Premier League’.

The Argentine national team recently lost Mateo Retegui, who snubbed them to play for Italy. Senesi now reveals he went through a similar situation, but chose to play for the place where he was born.

“When I was in the Netherlands, the Italian coach told me that he wanted to count on me. I took the decision with my heart and decided to play for my country, which is where I want to be.”

The Bournemouth player was also asked about Alejandro Garnacho, the Manchester United wonderkid who was supposed to make his debut for Argentina this month, but was ruled out due to an injury at the weekend. Senesi seems to be a fan of the teenager, claiming he should soon shine with the national team.

“Garnacho is good, he is very good one against one and makes good decisions. He can give us a lot in the future and I hope he does.”
