Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko left Manchester City and made a switch to Arsenal in the summer window.

The Ukraine international started the first three matches for the Gunners on the left side of defence before he was forced to miss the last two ties due to injury. He will compete with Kieran Tierney for a place in the starting lineup at the Emirates.

Zinchenko’s arrival saw Arsenal send Nuno Tavares out on loan to Marseille in July, a year after they signed him from Benfica. The 22-year-old has enjoyed a good start to his life in France, managing three goals from five matches.

The Gunners owned player appeared as a guest on RMC Sport’s Rothen s’enflamme on Friday, where he stressed the difficulties at the Emirates saw him leave the north London club.

“At Arsenal, I would have probably only played in the cup [FA Cup and EFL Cup]. I came to Marseille to play in my position, in the Champions League, in the league and in the cup [competition]. Marseille gave me this opportunity,” he said.

Mikel Arteta’s side allowed Tavares to join the Ligue 1 side on a dry loan deal. The fullback has now revealed he and his agents wanted to include an option to buy.

“With my agents, we always wanted an option to buy, but Arsenal didn’t want there to be one. But I’m at Marseille, and with or without an option, I’m happy,” Tavares explained.
