Earlier today, we covered the strange situation surrounding Leeds United’s attempts to sign Nadiem Amiri from Bayer Leverkusen.

It was said that despite clubs being happy with the transfer fee, the player was included by Xabi Alonso for this weekend’s game, putting any imminent transfer in doubt.

Well, Kicker provide a bit more information on the matter, and they reveal that it might have nothing to do with Leeds and everything to do with Amiri himself.

They explain that the transfer has ‘already been negotiated’, with the clubs fully in agreement, and the player ‘also agreed’ to move to Elland Road on Thursday, which has been widely covered, bringing hope to fans of the Whites.

However, ‘there is a hitch’ in the negotiations, meaning the deal cannot be completed just yet, and there is apparently a ‘problem on the player’s side’.

What that is isn’t said, but it has affected his transfer to Leeds, which is why the midfielder was still training with Bayer Leverkusen on Friday, and why Xabi Alonso, for the time being, is still keen to use him and include him in the squad that will be playing against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday.
