It continues to be impressive how most of the stories from the Peruvian media regarding Kluiverth Aguilar are about how poor he’s been lately.

Manchester City announced his signing back last year, and since then, we continue checking his country’s press to see how he’s been doing at Alianza Lima.

We’ve seen a few local pundits criticising the 17-year-old for not living up to expectations at the Peruvian side, with people even claiming that those who sold him to the Premier League club are ‘geniuses and magicians’.

Well, it’s now Alianza Lima manager Carlos Bustos who acknowledges that Aguilar hasn’t been doing great. Following his performance against Alianza Atletico, the coach mentioned the player’s age to explain why he couldn’t perform as expected lately.

“We are close to Kluivert. Because of how the game happened, we decided that Mora can play. He’s a boy with many conditions and he’s very young,” said Bustos (via Libero).

“Surely in the little time he has as a professional, he has already experienced different situations. Perhaps he fell off a bit, but he’ll have to regain his level.”

Kluiverth Aguilar is expected to complete the move to Manchester City this summer.

Recent reports claimed the City Group tried to take the player to Europe last month, as he’d go through an early adaptation first, but the clubs ended up reaching an agreement to let him stay in South America for a little longer.
