Everton’s chances of signing Weston McKennie from Juventus appear to have been dealt a blow as Max Allegri has insisted he won’t be leaving the club.

McKennie has been heavily linked with a move away from Juve for the last week or so, with it believed they were ready to cash in and find a replacement who better suited Allegri.

Everton have been named among the suitors and reports today stated they had made an ‘interesting’ offer for him.

All indications were that Juventus had accepted and were letting the player decide his future but, according to Allegri, that won’t be happening, with journalist Gianluigi Longari reporting him saying, “He has to stay here at #Juventus, he’s not for sale” at a press conference today.

That would seemingly put an end to any speculation for the time being, although, as we know, that can always change at the end of the transfer window.

Perhaps at the moment, Juventus aren’t getting anywhere with their potential replacements, such as Axel Witsel, and that is what has encouraged the comments from Allegri.

If not, it seems Everton and the other Premier League suitors are set to miss out on their man, despite a move having appeared to be very close today.
