Tottenham Hotspur fullback Destiny Udogie is missing out on Italy’s games in this international break, and now we know why.
National team manager Luciano Spalletti today held a press conference, and was asked why the 20-year-old is not in the squad.
“He’s injured,” said Spalletti, quoted by Gianluca Di Marzio.
Those quotes finally clarify Udogie’s situation. Last week, when the national team list came out, the Italian media had been questioning why the Tottenham player had been left out.
Udogie missed Spurs’ match against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the weekend because he was suspended, so it hadn’t been clear what his fitness situation was.
Now we shall wait for Tottenham to bring more news on his physical issue and whether he’ll be ready to play for Tottenham after the international break.
Italy have games against North Macedonia and Ukraine, and need good results. So this is not the sort of situation when Spalletti would just spare a player from being in the squad to give him a rest.
Tottenham, meanwhile, will be back in action on the 16th of November, when they play Aston Villa.
