It’s fair to say that everyone at Everton is delighted with what they’ve seen from Amadou Onana so far, and it seems they’re not the only ones benefitting from the deal.

The midfielder joined Everton in a £31.5m deal from Lille in the summer and has been an instant hit at Goodison Park with a series of impressive performances.

He continued his good form over the weekend, bagging an assist for Conor Coady’s strike in the 2-1 win over Southampton.

The deal is very much looking like a positive one for Everton, who have not only added an upgrade to their team for now but also appear to have signed a talent for the future as well.

The figure may end up looking like a bargain and one club who were certainly happy with it are former club Hamburg.

BILD explain that they’re delighted to see Onana has ‘hit the ground running’ on Merseyside after cashing in on his move in August.

Onana left the German side for Lille in 2021 but sports director Jonas Holdt negotiated a 20 percent share in the event of a future sale.

Therefore, this summer after all the deductions, including training compensation for his other clubs, HSV were left ‘with a good €5m’ in their back pocket.

They’re more than happy with the deal, as are Everton, who like HSV, are happily watching as the midfielder ‘takes off’ in the Premier League.
