On Tuesday, we covered a story from UOL which said Arsenal are close to signing Gabriel Martinelli from Ituano.

The outlet could say the Gunners should be announcing the wonderkid in June, but couldn’t really get access to how much they’re paying for the transfer.

Now it turns out that Yahoo Brasil are reporting the deal as well. And according to their story, Arsenal are spending £6m to sign Martinelli.

The 17-year-old is set to make his move in June, when the transfer window opens and also when he turns 18, being able to be transferred to an European side.

Yahoo writes that Martinelli will initially join Arsenal’s U23s, but will have a date set to be promoted to the first team. That’s why he’s working to get his European passport as soon as possible, since that’s the easiest way to get a work permit.

The website also recalls that Manchester United were leading the race for the signing, since they followed Martinelli for years and he even had trials at the club. However, the Red Devils chose not to use their buying option over him at the time, and it’s Arsenal who are taking him to England.
