M’Bala Nzola scored seven goals in the second half of the last season to help Spezia Calcio achieve promotion to the Serie A.
Spezia made the striker’s loan deal permanent and he is their top scorer this season with nine goals to his name.
Fulham have taken note of the 24-year-old’s performances for the Italian club. That’s according to La Nazione, as relayed by Viola News.
It’s claimed the frontman’s departure from Spezia after this season is ‘certain’, but it’s not clear where he will move next.
The Cottagers are 18th in the table and are six points behind Newcastle United, who have a game in hand. If they manage to avoid getting relegated, Scott Parker’s side would have ‘counted a lot’ on the arrival of the striker.
Fulham have maintained ‘marginal contacts’ with Nzola’s representatives and a stay in the top division will improve their chances of signing the player, who is valued at £12m.
Empoli [if promoted] and Fiorentina, who failed to sign him in January, will be in the front row to make an offer for Nzola in the next market. Fulham’s chances of signing will depend on where they will play next season.
