Over the past two months, several reports in Spain indicated that Ander Iturraspe has been identified as a transfer target for Leeds United in the summer.

The 30-year-old’s contract at Athletic Bilbao will expire at the end of the season and the Basque club have already confirmed that they will not hand a renewal to the midfielder.

He’s already played under Marcelo Bielsa when the current Whites manager was in charge at San Mames.

El Gol Digital now brings the latest update about the outgoing Athletic player.

He is also on the radar of Rayo Vallecano and their failure to finish above the top three in La Liga this season has confirmed their relegation to the second division.

Having being linked with the Championship side for a while, the report explains it will not be easy for Rayo to convince Iturraspe to sign for them.

However, it’s claimed the player is ‘willing to reject’ Bielsa for an ‘important role’ at Rayo Vallecano.

Whether or not Leeds will try to persuade Iturraspe to join them is to be seen.
