West Ham United are making a late effort for the signing of Idrissa Gueye from Paris Saint Germain, according to claims from France.

Journalist Dave Appadoo is the one claiming the Hammers could now be in pole position for the signing, and it all depends on his answer to their offer.

The French media had already been claiming that PSG wouldn’t mind seeing the midfielder leave in the January transfer window, and now, the latest update suggests he could be interested in the Hammers’ project.

There isn’t a lot of information on how much the Premier League side are offering, as they get straight to the point by claiming that Gueye could end up going to England.

Sunday evening saw claims from France that Newcastle United had made an approach to sign the PSG player. At the time it was suggested Gueye would be against the move, although tempted about a return to the Premier League at some point.

Monday’s edition of L’Equipe further underlined that, insisting Gueye didn’t want to sign for the Magpies, had made his final decision, and would instead be likely to remain in Paris for the rest of the current season, then deciding his future in the summer window.

Any move would almost certainly be a loan, and now it’s down to Gueye to see if he fancies West Ham more than he did Newcastle.
