Former West Ham United technical director Gianluca Nani will not be following Gianfranco Zola to Birmingham City, according to the Italian media. Nani worked with Zola when the former Chelsea star was the manager of West Ham, but a reunion is not on the cards at Birmingham City.
It was at West Ham that Nani gave Zola his big break in football management before linking up with him again at Vicarage Road. However, despite his experience at English clubs the Italian would prefer to work on the continent after his two-year spell in the Middle East.
Zola replaced Rowett at Birmingham city yesterday despite the Championship side being one point off the play-off positions. Zola’s first test will be on Saturday when Birmingham City take on second placed Brighton.
