It seems that Southampton’s chances of being relegated are being watched very attentively in Italy.

Local website Calcio Mercato has a story especially about the Saints campaign, saying that in case the club go down to the Championship, there will be a lot of opportunities for Serie A clubs in the transfer market.

It’s not one or two players who have been linked to Italian clubs that are mentioned in the story. Calcio Mercato makes sure to name several of them.

Sofiane Boufal is the first. He’s said to be wanted by Inter Milan, and even though he may be considered an expensive player, an agreement would be easier in case of relegation.

He’s followed by Manolo Gabbiadini, who’s often linked to Italian clubs. This time, it’s Bologna who would be ready for his return, as his stay at Southampton in case of relegation would be ‘unlikely’.

Dusan Tadic is another one who’s been heavily linked to Inter Milan, with news reporting contacts between the club and the player’s agent. Juventus and Milan would be interested in him as well.

Cedric Soares is seen as an ‘opportunity’, since he’s been approached by both Roma and Napoli in the past few years.

And hang on, Calcio Mercato are not done yet. They say Mario Lemina and Wesley Hoedt, who both arrived recently at Southampton, could be off as well. They’re two more who relegation could put on the clearance list.
