At Tottenham between 2010 and 2013, William Troost-Ekong never managed to make a first-team appearance for the club, ending up starting his professional career in the Netherlands with Groningen instead.
The centre-back, who captained Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations, has also enjoyed spells in Norway, Turkey, Belgium and Italy, before settling down last summer in Greece with PAOK Salonica.
However, during his early days at Tottenham, he encountered future stars, like a certain Harry Kane, discussing his time there with TuttoMercatoWeb.
“He always wanted to grow and that eventually led him to the top of the game. He is an example of the desire to improve and always work harder.”
By contrast to Troost-Ekong’s nomadic career, Kane remained with Tottenham from 2004 to 2023, peppering his early years with loan spells at Leyton orient, Millwall, Norwich and Leicester before fully settling with Spurs.
Over the course of his many years at the London club, he would go on to make 430 appearances, scoring 278 goals and assisting another 64.
The 30-year-old would eventually leave Tottenham last summer in a huge transfer to Bayern Munich, who paid close to €100m to convince Daniel Levy to sell his star.
