Daniele Rugani has no regrets over Juventus’ decision to reject Chelsea’s €40m offer.

That’s according to the 29-year-old’s agent, Davide Torchia, and he made this claim during an interview with Tutto Juve.

The centre-back, who hasn’t had regular game time this season, scored the winner in his side’s league victory over Frosinone at the weekend.

After discussing the goal and Rugani’s season so far, Torchia was asked whether he thinks what could have been had the Serie A side accepted Chelsea’s offer.

“No, this decision has never weighed on him. Those made with conscience, heart and serenity are never wrong choices. There was the refusal from Juventus, but on the other hand there was never a player who wanted to leave at all costs,” he said.

“Daniele was always clear: he would have considered the idea of leaving only if the club gave him up for an economic issue, otherwise he would have proved to be worth the trust that was placed in him.”

It’s not made clear when Chelsea had made a proposal for the Italian. Gazzetta dello Sport had previously stated the Old Lady turned down the club’s €40m bid in the summer of 2018, when Maurizio Sarri was in charge at Stamford Bridge.

The defender was sent on loan to Rennes and Cagliari between 2020 and 2021.

Rugani has less than six months left on his current deal and the agent has said his client is keen to continue at Juventus.
