Everton are reportedly one of the candidates for the signing of Mariselle youngster Niels Nkounkou.

French outlet Foot Mercato reports today that the 19-year-old has decided not to sign him his first professional contract with the Ligue 1 side.

Now that he’s a free agent, there have been several European sides aiming for his signing. The report states that Everton, Juventus and RB Leipzig have the player in their sights.

Foot Mercato believes a decision should be made in the ‘coming hours’, and since the clubs don’t need an agreement with Marseille, this isn’t a situation which should take very long to come to a conclusion.

Despite acknowledging Nkounkou’s potential, Marseille never gave the youngster a chance to make his debut for the first team, and that’s one of the reasons why he doubts his future at the French side.

The fullback can play in several positions on the left flank, and could become an interesting option for Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton squad.
