Wednesday’s edition of L’Equipe talked up Idrissa Gueye being much closer to leaving Everton than had been thought the case earlier.

Talks were said to have ‘intensified in recent hours’ and of the possibilities PSG were chasing, the Everton player was presented as the closest.

Gueye himself was described as determined to get the deal done, a day after it was claimed he’d shared confidence of a move with those close to him.

Now there’s potentially a twist. As PSG continue to target any conceivable midfielder, they’ve gone off on a tangent.

RMC say the French club have made contact with Bayern Munich to sign Renato Sanches, and it’s also claimed negotiations continue for Zenit’s Leandro Paredes, with an agreement ‘close’.

PSG can’t sign all three, so what about Guedes? Well, it’s stated the track is still open but, disagreeing with L’Equipe, RMC say there’s been ‘no significant progress’ in recent hours.

Everton are looking for a signing to replace the midfielder, and Watford have ‘blocked’ the route to Aboulaye Doucouré.
