Deich Stube is a Werder Bremen focused website and they report today that news about a midfielder target has been leaked.

The man involved is Everton’s Davy Klaassen and the idea is that he would be replacing Thomas Delaney, himself a Toffees target in the past, who this summer moved to Borussia Dortmund for around €20m.

Werder Bremen want to exploit Klaassen’s poor first season in the Premier League. Despite being considered ‘one of the best midfielders in the Netherlands’, say Deich Stube, struggles in England have seen the Dutchman’s price fall ‘wildly’.

The estimated cost of a transfer is put at €13-14m and for Werder Bremen that would be the ‘most expensive signing in the club’s history’.

It’s claimed that Klaassen has already rejected the chance of a move to Turkey, but there’s also the possibility of a return to the Netherlands.

Even if the estimated price is right, the footballer’s Everton wages are likely to be far higher than what Werder would want to pay so a compromise would be needed somewhere.
