Since pre-season started for Portuguese clubs, we’ve rarely seen stories about foreign scouts flying in to watch the matches.

But in two of these few articles, it’s Everton who got a mention. The first of them was a month ago, when the Toffees had emissaries watching Benfica play Anderlecht.

Now club officials have been spotted at a League Cup match between Belenenses and Santa Clara on Saturday, according to A Bola.

The game was played for the tournament’s second stage, and was won by the away side, with a goal scored by Iraqi midfielder Osama Rashid.

It’s interesting to see Everton scouts watching a game like this, because they normally only have officials at games involving Sporting, Benfica or Porto.

For example: back in May, they scouted a Belenenses game, but that was against Sporting. In the same month, they also watched Santa Clara, but only when facing Benfica.

So Marco Silva either wants bigger coverage this season, or he already has a target at either Belenenses or Santa Clara.
