While Dominic Calvert-Lewin has really started to come into his own, Everton still need another striker, especially since Moise Kean still hasn’t adapted to the Premier League properly.

Richarlison isn’t exactly an out and out goalscorer despite his ability to find the back of the net, so to see the Toffees linked with that type if player isn’t a surprise.

The same applies to Newcastle United, who have struggled with consistency in front of goal, showcased by the fact Jonjo Shelvey is currently their top scorer in the Premier League.

That’s why both clubs appear to have an active interest in Patrik Schick, according to Corriere dello Sport, as Franco Baldini has been charged to find the Czech Republic international a landing spot this summer.

Other than that not-so-simple task, he has also been asked to get at least €25m for the player, as RB Leipzig, where he is currently on loan from AS Roma, have refused to meet their pre-agreed €29m fee, offering €20m instead.

That isn’t sufficient for the Serie A side, which is why they have asked the former Tottenham director to put his contacts to good use.

He’s already approached Spurs, and Arsenal have asked for information, but Corriere state it’s Everton and Newcastle who are the ‘true pretenders’ in the race.

It’s explained ‘work is underway’ to try and get Schick sold, and €25m would allow them to recoup a chunk of their £38m expenditure from 2018.

At that price, he’s certainly affordable for both Everton and Newcastle, and while the latter are in more dire need than the Toffees, never rule out Marcel Brands’ ability to sniff out a good deal.
