If you look at the trail of articles from the January transfer window involving Leicester City, the Foxes are looking for a defensive midfielder.

Their efforts to sign Ibrahima Diallo from Stade Brest 29 didn’t go unnoticed by the French press, and while that might have been where their efforts were focused a few months ago, Radio Marca believe they are firmly elsewhere now.

We say that because the Spanish radio station report on Tuesday that Leicester currently have a ‘very advanced agreement’ with Real Betis’ William Carvalho for him to leave at the end of the season.

As things stand, there has yet to be an agreement between the two clubs over a transfer fee, but it’s said ‘all parties see this operation with good eyes’.

No numbers have been released just yet, but if this does head towards a transfer, it would finally allow the Portugal international to get his move to the Premier League after years of speculation dating back to his Sporting CP days.

Once a recurring target for Manchester United, the defensive midfielder has also been previously linked with the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and West Ham, among others.
