Everton are keeping a ‘watchful eye’ on Roma’s move for Sassuolo youngster Davide Frattesi, with Carlo Ancelotti a big fan of the midfielder.
Earlier this week we covered a report from Forza Roma that said Everton were interested in the 20-year-old, who has impressed in Serie B with Empoli this season.
They claimed the Blues had been alerted to him by Ancelotti, who recommended him to the club’s scouts, who have since sent positive reports back to England about him.
Any plans for a move appeared to have been scuppered, though, with it later reported Roma, who sold him to Sassuolo, were planning to activate a clause to take him back to the club.
Tuttomercatoweb confirm that today, saying Roma want to ‘take advantage’ of that option and bring Frattesi back after selling him three years ago.
Everton are keeping a ‘watchful eye’ on proceedings, though, with Ancelotti having followed Frattesi ‘for some time’.
The suggestion is that, should Roma not make their move, Everton will be waiting in the wings to move instead.
Although, if they are genuinely interested, it might be worth them making a move early and trying to convince Frattesi that Goodison Park should be his next destination instead of a return to Rome.
