Arnaut Danjuma has struggled to make an impact at Everton this season as he is a luxury player who doesn’t fit into what Sean Dyche wants.
That’s according to Leon Osman, who has been speaking to Milan News about his former club and why Danjuma hasn’t made the impact most expected him to.
The Dutchman joined Everton on loan from Villarreal in the summer after an unsuccessful spell at Tottenham in the second half of last season.
He had been poised to join Everton that month but reneged at the last minute to instead join Tottenham, a decision that didn’t work out for either party.
Danjuma wanted to rectify that mistake by arriving in the summer but has instead found himself out of the picture at Goodison Park this season, seemingly unfancied by Sean Dyche.
That has certainly led to questions being asked, particularly as Everton have struggled for goals this season and some sections of the fanbase believe he could be the solution to that problem.
Osman, though, disagrees and believes there is a clear reason why Dyche hasn’t shown more faith in the Dutch forward.
“The Premier League is a very fast championship and Arnaut is a ‘luxury player’,” he said.
“That is, (he is) a footballer who likes to wait for the ball in areas where he decides and then unleash his magic with the ball.
“We are talking about a capable player, with a lot of quality and perfect for the Premier League and a team coached by Sean Dyche. But here he has to work more in the defensive phase and without the ball than in possession. This explains Danjuma’s flop.”
