The Catalan media continue to link Philippe Coutinho with a move to Everton, as Barcelona try and get the Brazilian off their books in the January window.

With Ferran Torres arriving from Manchester City, it’s now even more urgent for the Blaugrana to get some wages off their accounts, and Coutinho has long been a likely option.

Sport report the player’s agents are heading to England after two clubs, Everton and Arsenal, ‘have asked’ for information about a move in the winter market.

The agents are hopeful and it’s thought other Premier League sides could also come forward. Barcelona would accept a loan deal, without any obligation to go through with a purchase next summer, and they would even continue to pay part of the player’s wages.

A loan fee is also unlikely, so this may be a reasonable opportunity for Everton. Coutinho needs to go somewhere he’s likely to get regular games, with his dream to be part of Brazil’s World Cup squad still a realistic one, and Rafa Benitez should be able to provide that.
