According to a report in the Italian media, Serie A clubs could look to sign some of Southampton’s star players if they are relegated to the Championship
Mark Hughes’ side are currently in 18th in the Premier League table, three points from safety.
Calciomercato have reported Italian clubs are casting their eyes on the situation at Southampton, and they’ve identified four players who could head to Serie A in the summer.
The obvious Southampton star who could leave for Italy if they are relegated is Manolo Gabbiadini. The Italy international has struggled this season after showing promise in his first campaign with the Saints.
This has led to recent reports he could return to his home country with Lazio and Bologna said to be showing an interest in the forward.
It’s also been suggested Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Sofiane Boufal may be a target for the two Milan clubs. Boufal in the past has been linked with a move to the San Siro, and the two Serie A giants could renew their interest in the attacker in the next window.
One other Southampton player Calciomercato say could leave is Dusan Tadic, despite being contracted to the Premier League side until 2020. No particular Italian club has been linked with the Serbian, but if has a good World Cup this summer this may raise interest.
