As you may have noticed, Todd Boehly’s decision to sack Thomas Tuchel from the Chelsea job and then replace him with Graham Potter hasn’t worked out that well.

The idea made sense on paper, as the English manager was overachieving nicely with Brighton, and his ability to get the best out of young talent was a dream for the American owner, who is currently revolutionising the squad at Stamford Bridge.

However, six goals in the last 16 games and only a handful of points during that time have left Chelsea in a precarious position that could easily see them miss out on Champion League football, and that’s led to talk of Potter being sacked sooner rather than later.

As always, big names are being mentioned with one of those being Zinedine Zidane, still without a job since he left Real Madrid.

He has been linked with a move to England in the past, when Manchester United allegedly wanted him, but it seems, at least for Emmanuel Petit, who knows the French manager well, a move to Chelsea isn’t on the cards.

Speaking on RMC Sport, he said in a three-minute rant: “I might be wrong, but I don’t believe it for one second, for various reasons. You spoke about it when you introduced the topic: Zizou doesn’t speak English, and while he might be learning it, knowing his style of management and how he works with players, he likes being close, and you need communication for that.

“The second argument is why turn down Chelsea right now? I’m sorry guys, but Potter, the main problem he has is that he’s managing more than 30 players on a daily basis in training. It’s a summer camp at the moment. You can spend €600m, and you tell me they have colossal means. They had colossal means because UEFA are thinking about changing FFP because of Chelsea, and so they need to be qualified to avoid sanctions, which they’re likely going to get.

“Third argument is I’ve had feedback from fans who have said that they don’t want Zinedine Zidane because he’s never declared his flame to the Premier League and he’s openly said that he much prefers a technical game, which I can completely understand when you look at the manager he is and player he was.

“The one argument I agree with is that he needs a job after being two years without one, and he might be Boehly’s choice, but Boehly, pardon me, he knows nothing about football, and if he’s just flashing on the bling bling of the name, then there’s plenty of other managers out there who don’t have a job and know the Premier League better.”
