Despite the many reports claiming that Tottenham are going to try and sign Franck Kessie from Barcelona in the summer, that won’t be happening.

That’s according to Sport, who have an article with a very simple headline stating the Ivory Coast international ‘will not leave’ in the summer.

The idea from the other stories was that because he had arrived on a free and hasn’t performed to his best level, he could be sold off for a nice profit in the summer to a club like Tottenham, giving Barcelona some of the money they need.

Sport, however, dispute that, and claim that the second half of the season is likely when the player is going to shine.

He has been patient, going from a key player at Milan to one used sporadically by Xavi, but knew that ‘after the World Cup’ things would change.

That why Barcelona are clear that ‘the player will not leave in the summer’.

This is, of course, just the general idea, and it is made clear that if a ‘very dizzying’ offer were to come along, that ‘could change things’, and it’s recalled that Tottenham ‘knocked on his door in January’.

Therefore, if Spurs do want Kessie, they are going to have to really pay up.
