Fulham chief scout Brian Talbot has travelled to Istanbul and held preliminary talks with Beşiktaş for the transfer of Semih Kılıçsoy.
That’s according to Sports Digitale, who say the Fulham scout met with Beşiktaş head of football operations to discuss the player.
According to their information Fulham made it clear that they had allocated €15m to try and sign Kılıçsoy this summer but Besiktas were unimpressed by that and insisted that the price they had set was higher. What their actual demand is, was not made clear.
Kılıçsoy has been earning admirers this season thanks to his ten goals in 20 appearances in the Super Lig and 11 goals and two assists in 30 games in all competitions.
The 18-year-old is very much one of the rising stars of Turkish football, with many predicting a bright future for him and potentially a big role for Türkiye at Euro 2024.
Fulham have not been credited with an interest before now but appear to be trying to get ahead of the game by sending their chief scout for direct talks about a transfer.
It seems their first offer was not enough, though, and they’ll have to seriously increase it if they are to get the striker ahead of the competition.
