Serie A champions AC Milan currently find themselves fourth in the league, just three points behind leaders Napoli and in a good position to defend their title.

In the Champions League, they’ve won both of their matches and should be going into the match against Chelsea on a high. The Blues have only got themselves one point from their first two matches in the competition, and a win for the Rossoneri would put them far ahead of the London side.

However, there’s a rather big problem facing Stefano Pioli and his side, report Tuttosport.

The Italian newspaper says ‘it’s an emergency’ at Milan ahead of the trip to London this week. After being hit by injuries, there’s a possibility the club will only be able to take 17 senior players to Stamford Bridge.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Alessandro Florenzi are long term absences, whilst Mike Maignan and Theo Hernandez were confirmed injured during the international break.

During Saturday’s 3-1 win over Empoli, Alexis Saelemaekers and Davide Calabria had to come off within six minutes, and Simon Kjaer then also had to exit the pitch.

The 17 that AC Milan hope to take includes their goalkeepers and Divock Origi, with the former Liverpool player himself doubtful.
