One step forward and two steps back.

That’s how the Edin Dzeko deal is coming across in Italy, with the Bosnian striker still not fully convinced by Chelsea’s offer for him.

This is what Corriere dello Sport are reporting, the very same newspaper who said on Wednesday the Blues were ready to offer the former Manchester City forward £7m/year until 2021.

According to the Italian newspaper, no steps forward have been taken over the past 24 hours, partly because Chelsea were playing Arsenal in the Carabao Cup, but also because there are still some disagreements between the two clubs regarding the price of the whole operation.

Furthermore, Dzeko is said to be asking for more wages, described as a ‘very high number’, and his agent has yet to reach London to discuss matters further.

Considering Chelsea’s policy for the over 30-year-old contingent already at the club, it’s understandable to see them having second thoughts about the whole thing, especially if there are some high demands involved.

It’s no secret Antonio Conte is a big fan of the Bosnian, but now it’s up to Roman Abramovich and co. to make a decision.
