Tottenham have again expressed an interest in AS Roma star Nicolo Zaniolo in recent weeks but are unlikely to get their man.
That’s according to Calciomercato, who say that the Italian midfielder is keen to sign a new deal at the Serie A club and avoid interest from elsewhere.
They say Roma are ‘working hard’ on contract renewals and want to cement the jewels of the squad, namely Lorenzo Pellegrini and Zaniolo.
Once the former is done, they will turn their attention to the latter, with talks already underway with his agent about extending his deal, which currently runs until 2024.
Talks with his entourage are on the right track, though, and a conclusion is not far away between both parties.
That will come as bad news for Tottenham, who the website say had expressed an interest in the midfielder in ‘recent weeks’ and negotiations are taking place ‘with all due respect’ to that.
They don’t explain the extent of the interest from Tottenham, just that they had ‘taken information’ on the player.
We’ll assume that came courtesy of Fabio Paratici, who obviously knows the Italian market well and will be more than aware of Zaniolo’s talents.
