Sacha Boey’s performances for Galatasaray have helped him garner interest from clubs from across Europe, including Arsenal.

On March 18th, Akşam reported the right-back is the ‘priority’ target for the Gunners as their manager, Mikel Arteta, is ‘keen’ to secure his services in the summer.

Later that month, TuttoMercatoWeb stated Arsenal are the ‘most interested’ team and will face competition from AC Milan to sign the 22-year-old.

Transfermarkt interviewed the Frenchman, relayed by TuttoMercatoWeb. With Milan in the picture, he was asked about the possibility of moving to Serie A in the future.

“Being followed flatters me but it’s not a conditioning factor. As I often say to my friends: ‘The math is done in the end’. This is why I hope that the interest shown in January can turn into something concrete at the end of the season,” he said.

“I have spoken to many defenders who have played in Serie A and all of them were happy with the choice. I have only received positive feedback on this. If you play there you are obliged to progress tactically and defensively, it is in the championship’s DNA. Just look at the Italian school alone.”

Despite praising the Italian league, Boey has publicly expressed his dream to make a switch to the Premier League, where Arsenal are the ‘most interested’ team. The fullback has also explained why he remains keen on moving to England.

“My dream remains the Premier League, like most players. And then it’s a league that fits well with my aggressive style of play. I like the Bundesliga too. There are fullbacks who push, play throw-ins, fight. I think I’ve grown defensively but I’m missing attacking numbers a bit,” Boey explained.

Boey has registered two assists from 25 matches this season for the Turkish club.
