Since Everton started being linked to Manchester City once again, the Brazilian press has been following the saga very closely.

Some reliable reports even had quotes from club scouts saying he’s ready to take it to the next level, so the Copa America is seen as a big challenge for him.

The Grêmio forward gave a press conference on Thursday, and was asked a lot about the transfer rumours.

Some questions were about his nickname, Cebolinha, which has been translated as Little Onion by the English media.

Cebolinha is a character of a Brazilian comic book series called Monica’s Gang. The English version translated the name to Jimmy Five.

“I saw it, I thought it was cool, very cool. I got happy. Something unusual, but we are happy. We appreciate the affection,” said Everton (via ESPN Brasil).

Speaking of a possible move, Everton not only talked about the dream of playing in Europe, but a preference for the Premier League as well.

“It is the dream of every player who plays at a high level, who dreams to play at a high level, to play in Europe. I believe that for me, the most disputed football at the moment is the English, which is a league that attracts a lot of my attention.

“If it was to choose a league to play, the English would be a dream come true… To play in a league of a very high technical level, tactically as well. It would certainly add a lot in my career.”

Still, the player claims that nothing has come to him so far from Manchester City or anywhere else, and he will only listen to offers after the end of the Copa America.

“To me, so far, nothing. Even because I asked my representatives not to communicate anything until the end of the competition. So I stay totally focused here to do a great job.”
