Fiorentina’s Sporting Director Daniele Pradè and club General Director Joe Barone travelled to London at the end of November for talks with three clubs: Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal.

Monday’s edition of La Nazione claims to have found out the reason for the talks with Chelsea. It dates back to a ‘diplomatic crisis’ between Fiorentina and the Blues over Mohamed Salah.

The current Liverpool player had been on loan at Fiorentina before he was recalled and then sold to AS Roma. Fiorentina believed they’d been cheated and took action, demanding €32m in damages.

They lost their case and then took it to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, who also found in favour of Chelsea and Salah.

Understandably, this left relations between the two clubs in a very poor state, and scuppered Fiorentina’s chances of signing Mario Pasalic. The Tuscany club found an agreement with the player’s entourage, only for Chelsea to block it and say he could go ‘anywhere but Fiorentina’.

This has all led to a desire to fix things with Chelsea and improve the relationship, something which La Nazione reports has been done.

Therefore, future cooperation, and players moving between the clubs, is considered much more likely.
