As Arsenal’s signing of Porto midfielder Fabio Vieira starts being confirmed by different outlets from the Portuguese media, we now get to see more details of the agreement which is taking the player to London.

According to Record, the Gunners are spending an initial amount of €35m on the deal, with a potential other €5m in bonuses.

It’s said the player is now set to sign a five-year deal with Arsenal, with the business being handled by his agent Jorge Mendes.

The first report about this move had been made by journalist Pedro Sepulveda, who claimed Vieira had a €40m release clause.

Still, Record insists it’s of actually €50m, and the Gunners are landing the player for beneath that.

Sepulveda now backs up the amounts reported by Record, adding that the bonuses depend on his number of appearances for the London side and the qualification to the Champions League.

A source was also able to confirm the length of the contract to Sport Witness and that this was a deal ‘started and managed’ for some time, but Porto only recently accepted to transfer the player.

In a season where Porto won the league title, Vieira stood out with seven goals and 16 assists in 39 appearances.

This week, he had been linked to the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United, and it seems Arsenal moved quickly to win the race for his services.
