Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino has a contract expiring in June and has had “good talks” with the Premier League side over the possibility of extending his deal beyond this season.
This was confirmed by his agent to Sky Deutschland on Wednesday. He stated there will be more clarity on the forward’s future later this month.
Firmino has not featured for Liverpool since the World Cup and was left out of the squad for the last five league games. Cody Gakpo’s arrival at Anfield in January saw him drop further down the pecking order.
The current situation is unlikely to have an impact on the 31-year-old’s future as he is on the ‘verge of extending’ his contract with the Reds.
That’s according to Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg, who claims there will be a ‘decision soon’ on this case. He says this information is confirmed by Firmino’s agent to Sky.

Plettenberg claims the Brazil international has been wanting to sign a contract until 2025. It needs to be seen whether Liverpool will meet his request.
If Firmino is close to agreeing a new deal with Liverpool, it is likely to be reported in the UK in the next few hours or days.
