Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino has less than six months left on his deal and there is no clarity over his long-term future at Anfield.

Last week, Gazzetta dello Sport reported the forward could ‘really leave’ the Reds for free in the summer.

It was also explained Inter Milan would be interested to sign the Liverpool player if Romelu Lukaku [currently on loan] were to not stay at the San Siro after this season.

Sky Deutschland had a chat with the 31-year-old’s agent, Roger Wittmann, where he was specifically asked about his client’s future at the Merseyside club.

“It’s a long relationship between Roberto and Liverpool. Roberto is comfortable. At the moment we are in a great exchange and in February we will probably know where the journey is going,” Firmino’s representative said.

“But Roberto also has to have a say in order to find an agreement with Liverpool. We are on the right track. We have really good talks with Liverpool. It’s an outstanding club.”

The Brazil international’s last appearance for Jürgen Klopp’s side came in their league win over Southampton in November 2022.

Cody Gakpo’s addition to the Liverpool squad in January has seen Firmino drop further down the pecking order, and this could have an impact when the South American decides his future.

As stated by his agent, there would be more clarity on Firmino’s future later this month. If he were to decide to leave the Premier League side for free, several clubs could come forward to sign the player in the summer.
