Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino has a contract expiring at the end of this season.

Last month, there was optimism over the forward penning a new deal with the Reds after his agent admitted there have been positive talks with the Premier League side.

It was followed by reports from Germany the 31-year-old was expected to sign an extension with Liverpool for at least two years.

There seems to be a new twist if Sky Deutschland reported Florian Plettenberg is to be believed. He took to Twitter to state the Brazil international ‘will leave’ the Merseyside club as a free agent in the summer.

Plettenberg further adds the player has ‘personally’ informed about his decision to Jürgen Klopp today.

The South American has lost prominence at Liverpool after Cody Gakpo’s arrival in January. He has been restricted to five substitute appearances in all competitions post the World Cup.

With Firmino deciding to leave Klopp’s side, he’ll be hoping to find a club where he can enjoy regular game time next season, but a later post from Plettenberg also added that he has yet to choose his next destination, as the Brazilian made it clear to his manager he would fight for Liverpool ‘until the end’.
