Most days, one of the big Spanish sports newspaper has at least a page looking at Isco’s situation, and Thursday is no different.

The Real Madrid player found his way into Julen Lopetegui’s current Spain squad, despite playing a very small amount of football so far this season, and AS point out that if he wants his international career to continue then something has to give.

Isco himself is quoted as speaking to Spanish radio saying if he can’t get minutes at Real Madrid then he’ll have to find a way out, so that’s given AS a chance to look at the options available for the 24 year old.

Tottenham Hotspur are the first Premier League club mentioned on the list, and AS say that Mauricio Pochettino ‘bet big’ on the signing in the last hours of the transfer market, but at that point Isco apparently didn’t want to leave Real Madrid.

That would fit in with what another Spanish newspaper, Marca, said just after the transfer window closed, but wouldn’t fit in with what what El Confidencial explained mid September.

El Confidencial said that Isco was ready to consider a Tottenham move, and Real Madrid ready to agree to a loan, but it was Spurs who pulled out.

Whichever report is believed, things would have to change for Isco to end up at Tottenham. The player’s will may be the easier aspect to change, especially if he continues to get reduced minutes.

AS say there’s the possibility of a renewal, with Isco’s current contract expiring in June 2018, but the player is said to be wanting reassurances about his future before jumping into any new deal.

Real Madrid are yet to make a renewal approach.
