Crystal Palace are planning to keep an eye on Everton striker Cenk Tosun’s recovery from injury and could move for him again in the summer.

The Turkish forward joined Palace on loan in the January transfer window, with the Eagles looking to add extra firepower and him trying to build fitness and form ahead of Euro 2020.

His loan spell was cut short earlier his month, though, with a cruciate ligament injury bringing a premature end to his season.

Crystal Palace elected to send him back to Everton to continue his rehabilitation there and the assumption was that their interest in him had ended there.

However, that does not appear to be the case, with Fotospor reporting that both Palace’s management and ‘technical delegation’ will ‘closely monitor’ his recovery.

They plan to ‘receive continuous reports’ on the Turkish striker and could look to make a move for him in the summer if his progress is good enough.

Tosun is not expected to return until September at the earliest, with November at the latest, but if he ‘heals early’ then Palace will approach Everton about a transfer again.

The news will come as excellent news to those in charge at Goodison Park, who will now be praying Tosun’s recovery is a swift one.

They had planned to sell Tosun in the summer as part of a rebuild and included a permanent option in his original deal with Palace.

His injury had looked like scuppering that prospect but with Roy Hodgson’s side seemingly still keen; it seems there will be a deal there to be done for Marcel Brands and co.
