Crystal Palace and Fulham both had something to see in Portugal at the weekend, according to local reports.
As newspaper Record writes about Porto’s 2-2 draw against Famalicão, they say a few European sides sent scouts.
It turns out that Crystal Palace and Fulham were among them, even though there are no details on who their spies were watching.
This was another disappointing match for Porto, who’ve been struggling to stay competitive this season, so it was hard to see someone really standing out in that game.
Some who had a fairly good performance were Nico Gonzalez, Francisco Conceição, Pepê, Alan Varela, Galeno and Taremi, but none really stood out. For the visitors, Cádiz and Gustavo Sá had a very good performance to help their team get a result.
It’s been a while since Crystal Palace and Fulham last got linked to Porto or Famalicão players. The Eagles were once said to be interested in Pepê, but that was nearly too years ago. Fulham were said to be keen on signing Grujic over a year ago, and besides the long time with no news, he had a very poor performance this weekend.
So we may have to wait and see if new links with players from the Dragons, or even Famalicão, will show up.
Famalicão’s Gustavo Sá could be a good bet and it would be no surprise if both clubs are linked to him this week. There’s been links with Premier League clubs in recent days, and there may be an agent at work to drum up interest.
The 19-year-old attacker has quickly become his agency’s most valuable player.
