Tottenham are probably the English club who have been linked most with Adrien Rabiot in recent months.

There’s been several claims of talks taking place between the entourage of the midfielder and Spurs, and also reports about PSG potentially wanting a sale in the January window to avoid losing the player for nothing in the summer.

Towards the end of November, L’Equipe reported that PSG were considering selling to a ‘friend’ in football during the winter, and Tottenham were marked out as just that.

The two clubs have done business in recent windows, for Lucas Moura and Serge Aurier, and it’s assumed the lines of communication are open and good.

Saturday’s edition of L’Equipe again looks at the player’s situation and insists PSG are still trying to convince Rabiot to sign a renewal. They’re going to offer him around €1m gross per month.

Whilst that sounds like a big salary, although not huge by current standards, the long standing attempt to make Rabiot and his mother, who acts as his agent, appear greedy seems to have missed out one major point.

The player hasn’t had a renewal since 2014 and is currently paid €250k a month. He’s seen a whole raft of others arrive at PSG and be paid more than him, including 22 year old summer signing Thilo Kehrer.

L’Equipe say Barcelona have been in contact, but then ‘of course’ so have others like Tottenham. The financials of this potential deal may not as far away from Spurs’ level as had been assumed.
