While the local Rome press aren’t as excited as Gazzetta dello Sport about how close Lucas Perez could be to Lazio, the national newspaper are adamant a deal could be done soon.

Yesterday, they revealed a fee of around €6m could see the Spaniard permanently leave the Emirates after his flopped move to English football, and it’s edging closer and and closer by the day.

Gazzetta state that contacts between Lazio and Arsenal are ‘more and more frequent’, suggesting the two sides are working hard on finding an agreement as the Serie A club look for a decent rotation option for Ciro Immobile.

In fact, they go as far as saying the ‘turning point’ is ‘just around the corner’.

Struggling to fit in under Arsène Wenger at Arsenal following his £12.6m move from Deportivo La Coruña, the 29-year-old returned to his former club on loan last season, where he scored eight goals and picked up six assists in 35 league appearances.

During his time in London, Perez only featured 21 times, scored seven goals and picked up five assists, with only one striker coming in the Premier League.
