‘There is concern’ – National team starting to get worried about Tottenham defender’s absence

With a few weeks before the World Cup, any injury is a reason for national teams to be worried about the players’ presence in the tournament.

So as Tottenham Hotspur now announced that Cristian Romero isn’t making it to the squad which will face Marseille in the Champions League today, the Argentine media starts writing about his situation.

Outlet La Unión features a headline claiming ‘there is concern’ about the defender’s physical state, as this is the second consecutive game he will have missed.

Romero hadn’t played against Tottenham’s match against Newcastle United on the 23rd of October, and despite featuring versus Sporting last week, he was absent at the weekend’s clash against Bournemouth.

Now by missing the Champions League clash, it’s clear there’s something wrong going on.

La Unión writes that the player became a ‘new worry’ for Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni, who’s picking the World Cup squad in the coming days.

With the tournament starting on the 20th of November, there’s not a lot of time to recover in case the injury is serious, and it seems only Tottenham know his current condition.
