The Spanish media have been repeatedly stating that Real Madrid are concentrating on the rest of the current season and don’t want to be too distracted by transfers.

That, of course, hasn’t stopped transfer talk, and it’s Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham who is the player thought to be the current priority target for Los Blancos in the next window.

Chelsea defender Reece James is also getting repeat mentions, and Friday’s edition of AS covers him. According to the Spanish newspaper, Real Madrid are looking for competition for Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez.

Manchester City’s Joao Cancelo, currently on loan at Bayern Munich and unlikely to have a long term future at the Etihad, is said to be another option for the Spanish club.

AS say signing James will be a ‘complicated task’ because Chelsea have shown Madrid previously, with Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard, that they’re not keen on selling players they value highly.

There will be hope that with new ownership at Stamford Bridge, and Todd Boehly’s hands-on role, the stance has changed somewhat, especially with sales needed in the summer.
