The Italian media today makes Weston McKennie’s future at Leeds United very easy to understand.

Journalist Mirko Nicolino (via Juve Live) comes up to say that the midfielder’s stay at Elland Road is completely related to where the Whites will finish at the end of the season.

It’s said that in case Leeds stay in the Premier League, then they will use their right to buy McKennie by triggering the €34.5m buying option.

Now in case the Whites can’t avoid relegation to the Championship, then the transfer will ‘go up in smoke’ and the 24-year-old will be on his way back to Juventus.

The Turin club are clearly hopeful that the first scenario takes place, because they have no interest in having McKennie back in their squad, and would rather guarantee that money by completing his permanent switch to Leeds United.

The midfielder has nine appearances for the Whites so far, having taken part in all of their matches since his arrival. But are Javi Gracia’s side really that ready to spend nearly €35m on him? The Italian media perhaps sounds a little too sure about that.
